Anna has carried out a number of protests against corruption in Mahatshtra over the last decade.

This is when he gets into the media :

  • On 5 april, 2011, he made heads in the UPA government when he sat on an fast unto death on 5 April 2011 to exert pressure on the government of India to enact a strong anti-corruption act which he called as JAN LOKPAL BILL, to act against in a corruption stricken INDIA. The fast led to nationwide support for Anna in a fight against corruption .

  • July 28, 2011 the union cabinet on approved a draft of the Lokpal Bill, which keeps the Prime Minister, judiciary and lower bureaucracy out of the ambit of the proposed corruption ombudsman Lokpal. This draft is significantly different from the version of the bill suggested by civil society activists led by Anna Hazare. Hazare rejected the government version by describing it as "cruel joke'' and wrote a letter to Prime Minister and told him his decision to go on an indefinite fast from August 16, 2011 at Jantar Mantar if the government introduced its own version of the bill in Parliament without taking suggestions from civil society members.
